Importing a Manuscript
Bring your DOCX or plain text manuscript into Sappar Studio.
Supported Formats
Sappar Studio supports importing from two formats: DOCX (Microsoft Word) and plain text (.txt). When importing from a DOCX file, formatting such as bold, italic, and chapter headings is preserved, giving you a head start on your typesetting work.
How to Import
To import a manuscript, open your project and go to File → Import. Select your DOCX or plain text file from the file picker. Sappar will display an import preview so you can review how your manuscript will be split into chapters before confirming the import.
Chapter Detection
Sappar automatically detects chapter breaks in your manuscript. It looks for lines containing "Chapter" headings, paragraphs styled with the Heading 1 style in Word, and manual page breaks. Each detected break becomes a separate chapter in your Sappar project.
Import Settings
During the import process, several options are available to fine-tune the result. You can adjust chapter detection sensitivity to control how aggressively Sappar splits your text into chapters. You can also choose whether to preserve the original formatting from your source file or start fresh, and whether to trim extra whitespace from the beginning and end of paragraphs.
For best results, use Heading 1 style in Word for your chapter titles before importing.
