Exporting for KDP
Prepare your book for Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing with print-ready PDF export.
Overview
Amazon KDP requires a print-ready interior PDF. Sappar generates PDFs that meet KDP's specifications out of the box, including proper margins, bleed, and font embedding.
Setting Up for KDP
- Go to File → Export → KDP Print.
- Select your trim size (Sappar shows KDP-supported sizes).
- Review margin requirements — Sappar automatically sets safe margins based on your page count.
Trim Sizes
KDP supports a range of trim sizes. Common sizes include:
- 5" × 8"
- 5.25" × 8"
- 5.5" × 8.5"
- 6" × 9"
Sappar provides presets for all KDP-supported sizes.
Bleed Settings
If your book has images that extend to the page edge, enable bleed. Sappar adds 0.125" bleed on the top, bottom, and outside edges as required by KDP.
If your book is text-only with no images reaching the page edge, you do not need bleed. This simplifies your setup.
Exporting
Click Export. Sappar generates a single PDF file with all fonts embedded, CMYK-compatible colors, and the correct page dimensions. Upload this file directly to KDP.
