Terms of Service
Last updated: August 9, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Sappar Studio software, sapparstudio.com, Sappar Bazaar, account services, and other Sappar Studio services that link to these Terms (collectively, the "Service").
The Service is operated by Sappar Studio LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Sappar," "we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account, downloading or using Sappar Studio, purchasing a product, accessing Sappar Bazaar, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer or other legal rights that cannot lawfully be waived or excluded.
1. Sappar Studio
Sappar Studio is software for writing, designing, typesetting, preparing, and publishing books.
The Service may include:
- The Sappar Studio desktop application
- Sappar Studio Core
- Sappar Studio Pro
- Sappar Studio add-ons
- Sappar Bazaar
- Account, licensing, and activation services
- Websites and support services operated by Sappar Studio
- Beta and pre-release features
- Other products or services that expressly link to these Terms
Certain Sappar products or services may have additional terms. If additional terms apply, they will be presented to you before you use or purchase the applicable product or service.
2. Beta and Pre-Release Software
Parts of Sappar Studio may be offered in beta, preview, early-access, or other pre-release form.
Pre-release software may:
- Contain bugs or incomplete features
- Change substantially before release
- Be temporarily unavailable
- Have features added, changed, or removed
- Use temporary licenses or entitlements
- Produce files that may require migration as the software evolves
We may modify or discontinue beta functionality as development continues.
Unless we expressly state otherwise, participation in a beta program does not guarantee that a particular feature, product, price, or entitlement will remain available in a future release.
Your documents remain yours regardless of beta participation.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to create a Sappar account or purchase products through the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of a company, publisher, organization, or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
Our handling of children's personal information is described separately in our Privacy Policy.
4. Accounts
Some parts of the Service require a Sappar account.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and current account information
- Keep your login credentials secure
- Not share your account credentials with another person
- Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised
- Use your account only in accordance with these Terms
You are responsible for activity conducted through your account unless that activity resulted from circumstances outside your reasonable control.
We may require additional verification when reasonably necessary to protect your account, purchases, or the Service.
5. Sappar Studio Core
Sappar Studio Core is the primary Sappar Studio book-making application and is available without charge.
Core is intended to allow a user to create and publish a complete book without requiring the purchase of a paid upgrade.
Sappar Studio Core does not impose a paid unlock solely to:
- Remove watermarks
- Export a completed book
- Access supported export formats
- Increase the number of projects you may create
- Obtain the core Sappar typesetting engine
The specific tools, formats, themes, fonts, and capabilities available in the current release are described within Sappar Studio and on our website.
We may improve, replace, reorganize, or modify Core as the software develops. This does not mean that every future Sappar product, specialized tool, service, add-on, marketplace item, or separately developed capability will necessarily be included in Core.
6. Sappar Studio Pro
Sappar Studio Pro is a supporter purchase, not a paywall placed between Core users and a professionally made book.
Purchasing Pro does not give your manuscript a superior version of Sappar Studio's core typesetting engine or intentionally degrade the output available to Core users.
Pro exists for users who choose to financially support the continued development of Sappar Studio.
A Pro purchase may include supporter benefits, such as Sappar Studio add-ons or other benefits described on the applicable purchase page.
The exact price, included benefits, activation terms, and other purchase details shown to you at checkout form part of your purchase terms.
Benefits associated with a completed Pro purchase will not be retroactively removed merely because Sappar later changes the benefits offered to new purchasers, except where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, product discontinuation, or circumstances described at the time of purchase.
7. Sappar Studio Add-Ons
Sappar Studio may offer optional add-ons that extend the Studio with specialized tools or workflows.
Add-ons are separate from the essential Core book-making experience and may be sold separately.
Examples may include tools for specialized forms of writing, publishing, worldbuilding, collaboration, illustration, audio, translation, or other creative work.
The price, supported platforms, included functionality, license terms, and any additional conditions applicable to an add-on will be disclosed before purchase.
Purchasing Sappar Studio Core is not required because Core itself does not require payment. Purchasing Pro does not automatically grant every current or future add-on unless expressly stated as part of the Pro offer you purchased.
8. Sappar Bazaar
Sappar Bazaar is a marketplace through which digital creative products may be made available by independent creators.
Bazaar products may include:
- Fonts and typefaces
- Ornaments
- Drop caps
- Scene-break designs
- Chapter headers
- Templates
- Illustrations
- Decorative assets
- Other digital publishing resources
These products are referred to in these Terms as "Creator Products."
Product-specific terms
Creator Products may have their own:
- License terms
- Permitted uses
- Commercial-use permissions
- Installation requirements
- Compatibility requirements
- Refund terms
- Other product-specific conditions
Those terms will be displayed on or linked from the applicable product page before purchase and become part of the terms governing that purchase.
Ownership
Purchasing a Creator Product generally gives you a license to use the product, not ownership of the creator's underlying copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property.
Your permitted use is determined by the license shown for that product.
You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, extract, publish, or make a Creator Product available as a standalone asset unless its license expressly permits you to do so.
Independent creators
Creators retain responsibility for ensuring that they have the rights necessary to make their Creator Products available through Bazaar.
Sappar may review, reject, suspend, or remove Creator Products that we reasonably believe violate law, intellectual property rights, our marketplace rules, or these Terms.
Creators who sell through Bazaar may also be subject to separate Creator Terms or marketplace agreements.
9. Software License
Subject to these Terms, Sappar grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Sappar Studio software for lawful personal or commercial purposes.
You may use Sappar Studio to create commercial books and other permitted published works.
Unless applicable law or an applicable open-source license gives you a right that cannot be restricted, you may not:
- Redistribute Sappar Studio itself
- Sell, rent, sublicense, or transfer your software license or account
- Publish or share private license or activation credentials
- Circumvent licensing, security, or access-control systems
- Reverse-engineer or decompile proprietary portions of the software for the purpose of creating an unauthorized competing or derivative copy
- Remove proprietary notices from the software
- Use the software in violation of applicable law
Nothing in this section restricts rights granted under licenses covering open-source components included with Sappar Studio.
10. Platforms and System Requirements
Sappar Studio may be offered for macOS and Windows.
Current platform availability and minimum system requirements are published on our website or download pages.
You are responsible for checking system requirements before installing the software.
Platform support may evolve as operating systems, hardware, and Sappar Studio itself change.
We may discontinue support for obsolete operating-system versions or hardware when reasonably necessary for security, reliability, or continued development.
11. Open-Source and Third-Party Components
Sappar Studio incorporates open-source software, fonts, libraries, profiles, frameworks, and other third-party components.
Those components remain subject to their respective licenses and copyright notices.
Nothing in these Terms reduces or overrides rights granted to you by an applicable open-source license.
Current third-party notices and license texts are distributed with Sappar Studio where required and may also be made available through the application or website.
12. Acceptable Use
You may use Sappar Studio to create, format, and publish lawful content, including commercial work.
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights
- Gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, databases, or networks
- Introduce malicious code
- Circumvent security or authentication systems
- Intentionally interfere with the Service
- Impersonate another person or organization
- Conduct fraudulent transactions
- Abuse refund, payment, marketplace, account, or licensing systems
- Scrape or automate access to protected parts of the Service in a manner that materially disrupts the Service or violates an access restriction
Automation expressly provided or authorized through Sappar APIs, developer tools, integrations, or documented interfaces is permitted subject to any applicable terms.
We may suspend activity that reasonably appears to threaten the security or integrity of the Service while we investigate it.
13. Purchases
Prices and applicable taxes are shown before you complete a purchase.
Unless checkout expressly states otherwise, Sappar Studio products are sold as one-time purchases, not automatically recurring subscriptions.
We will not begin recurring billing unless the recurring nature, billing interval, price, cancellation terms, and other material conditions are clearly disclosed before you authorize the purchase.
Prices may change for future purchases.
A later price change does not alter the amount you already paid for a completed purchase.
Payment processing may be provided by third-party payment processors.
14. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.
Sappar Studio products
Eligible products sold directly by Sappar Studio may be refunded within 14 calendar days of purchase in accordance with the Refund Policy.
A customer requesting an eligible refund within that period does not need to provide a reason.
Sappar Bazaar
Creator Products purchased through Sappar Bazaar do not automatically follow Sappar Studio's standard 14-day refund policy.
The applicable refund terms for a Creator Product are displayed on its product page before purchase.
If a Bazaar item is defective, inaccessible, incorrectly delivered, materially different from what was offered, or there is another transaction problem, contact Sappar support.
Third-party platforms
If a Sappar product is purchased through an app store, reseller, or other third-party marketplace, that platform may require you to request the refund through its own system.
Nothing in these Terms or our Refund Policy limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
15. Legacy and Earlier Purchases
If you previously purchased an Early Supporter license, lifetime entitlement, promotional license, or another Sappar product under specific purchase terms, those terms continue to govern that completed purchase to the extent they provided you with rights or benefits beyond these general Terms.
We will not retroactively convert a completed one-time purchase into a recurring subscription.
16. Your Work Belongs to You
Your manuscripts, books, documents, designs, exports, and other original content remain yours.
Sappar does not acquire ownership of your manuscript merely because you created, imported, formatted, or exported it using Sappar Studio.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to material you include in your projects.
This includes text, fonts, images, illustrations, trademarks, and other third-party material.
17. Local Files and Backups
Sappar Studio is designed around locally stored project files.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of your manuscripts and project files.
Sappar is not a substitute for a backup system.
Unless you intentionally use a feature that expressly uploads or transmits content, local project files remain on your device as described in our Privacy Policy.
If Sappar later offers optional synchronization, collaboration, or cloud-storage features, the handling of content submitted to those features will be disclosed before use and governed by the applicable Privacy Policy and product terms.
18. Sappar Intellectual Property
Sappar Studio software, branding, logos, original interface designs, documentation, website materials, and other Sappar-owned materials are protected by intellectual-property law.
Except for the license necessary to use the Service, these Terms do not transfer Sappar's intellectual property to you.
You may not use Sappar trademarks or branding in a way that falsely implies sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, or affiliation without our permission.
19. Feedback
We welcome bug reports, suggestions, ideas, and other feedback.
If you voluntarily submit feedback concerning Sappar Studio, you give us permission to use that feedback to develop, improve, market, or operate Sappar Studio without owing compensation or attribution to you.
This does not transfer ownership of your manuscripts or creative works to Sappar.
Do not include third-party confidential information in feedback unless you have permission to provide it.
20. Copyright Complaints
Sappar respects intellectual-property rights.
If you believe material available through a Sappar-operated service infringes your copyright, send a notice to legal@sapparstudio.com.
Your notice should include sufficient information for us to identify the copyrighted work, locate the allegedly infringing material, contact you, and evaluate the claim.
Where applicable, we may remove or restrict access to material while reviewing a copyright complaint and may take action against repeat infringers.

21. Third-Party Services
Sappar uses third-party providers to operate portions of the Service, including services for infrastructure, authentication, payments, email delivery, security, and related functions.
Those providers may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for outages or changes to third-party services outside our reasonable control, although we will make reasonable efforts to restore affected Sappar functionality.
Our use of service providers and handling of personal information are described further in our Privacy Policy.
22. Third-Party Links
Our websites may link to publishing platforms, social networks, marketplaces, documentation, or other third-party websites.
A link does not necessarily mean that Sappar controls or endorses the third-party service.
Your use of another provider's service is governed by that provider's terms and policies.
23. Communications
We may send transactional communications reasonably necessary to operate your account or purchases, including:
- Account verification
- Password-reset messages
- Security notifications
- Receipts
- Purchase and license information
- Material notices concerning these Terms or the Service
Marketing communications may be sent where permitted by law and may be unsubscribed from using the method provided in the message.
Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary transactional or legal communications.
24. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information are governed by the Sappar Studio Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy describes, among other things, what information we collect, how it is used, how long it is retained, and the privacy rights available to users.
25. Service Changes and Availability
We continually develop Sappar Studio.
We may:
- Add or improve features
- Change interfaces and workflows
- Introduce new add-ons
- Introduce or discontinue optional products
- Add or remove supported formats
- Change technical requirements
- Suspend services temporarily for maintenance or security
- Discontinue a service where reasonably necessary
Where a change materially affects a paid entitlement you have already purchased, we will make reasonable efforts to respect the terms under which that entitlement was sold or provide an appropriate remedy where required.
We do not guarantee that every feature or third-party integration will remain available indefinitely.
26. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE."
WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL ALWAYS BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY DEVICE, FILE, FONT, PUBLISHING PLATFORM, OR THIRD-PARTY SERVICE.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING AND PROOFING YOUR FINAL BOOK BEFORE PUBLICATION OR PRINTING.
SAPPAR DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT A THIRD-PARTY PUBLISHER, PRINTER, DISTRIBUTOR, OR MARKETPLACE WILL ACCEPT A PARTICULAR FILE.
Nothing in this section excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
27. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAPPAR STUDIO LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE.
This includes, where legally permitted:
- Lost profits
- Lost business opportunities
- Business interruption
- Loss of data
- Loss of manuscripts or project files
- Printing or publishing costs resulting from an unreviewed export
- Losses arising from third-party platform rejection or interruption
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:
- (A) the amount you paid Sappar during the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim, or
- (B) $100 USD.
These limitations do not apply where applicable law prohibits them.
28. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Sappar Studio LLC against third-party claims arising directly from:
- Content you unlawfully publish or distribute using the Service
- Your infringement of another person's intellectual-property or privacy rights
- Fraudulent or intentionally unlawful use of the Service
- A material violation of these Terms
This section does not require you to indemnify Sappar for Sappar's own unlawful conduct, negligence where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, or matters for which indemnification cannot legally be required.
29. Dispute Resolution
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS LEGAL RIGHTS.
Informal resolution
Before beginning formal proceedings, you and Sappar agree to make a reasonable effort to resolve the dispute informally.
Send a written description of the dispute to legal@sapparstudio.com.
We will attempt to resolve the matter within 30 days.
Arbitration
Except for the exceptions described below, disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved by final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under the rules applicable to the dispute.
For disputes involving an individual consumer, the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules will apply.
Arbitration may be conducted remotely or at another location permitted under the applicable AAA rules.
Exceptions
Either party may bring an eligible claim in small claims court.
Either party may also seek appropriate injunctive or equitable relief concerning actual or threatened infringement, misuse, or misappropriation of intellectual property.
Individual claims
To the extent permitted by applicable law, disputes will be resolved individually rather than as class, consolidated, or representative proceedings.
If an applicable court determines that a particular part of this individual-action requirement cannot lawfully be enforced, that determination will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
Arbitration opt-out
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@sapparstudio.com within 30 days after first accepting these Terms.
Include your name, your Sappar account email address, and a clear statement that you are opting out of arbitration.
Opting out of arbitration does not affect the remainder of these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent that mandatory law in your jurisdiction applies.
Nothing in this section deprives a consumer of rights that cannot legally be waived.
30. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Sappar Studio at any time and may close your account through the available account tools or by contacting support.
We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably determine that:
- You materially violated these Terms
- Your account is being used fraudulently
- Your activity creates a material security risk
- We are legally required to do so
- Continued access would materially harm the Service or other users
Where appropriate, we may first provide notice or an opportunity to correct the violation.
Termination of an account does not transfer ownership of your manuscripts or local project files to Sappar.
Refund rights that arose before termination remain subject to the Refund Policy and applicable law.
Sections intended by their nature to survive termination, including provisions concerning intellectual property, payments already incurred, liability, disputes, and enforcement, will survive.
31. SMS Program
If you voluntarily enroll in Sappar Studio's SMS program, any SMS-specific terms presented during enrollment also apply.
Message frequency may vary.
Message and data rates may apply.
You may opt out by replying STOP or using another opt-out method provided by the Service.
SMS consent is not a condition of purchasing Sappar Studio.
Additional details are available on the Sappar Studio SMS Program page.
32. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Sappar Studio develops.
When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date.
For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice, such as by email, in-app notice, or another prominent method, where reasonably practicable.
Changes do not retroactively remove rights already granted under a completed purchase unless permitted by the applicable purchase terms and law.
If you do not agree with updated Terms, you may stop using the Service.
33. General
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, applicable product licenses, product-page terms, and any other terms expressly incorporated into them, form the agreement between you and Sappar concerning the applicable Service.
Severability
If part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law.
No waiver
Failure to enforce a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
Assignment
You may not transfer your account or contractual rights without our consent except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Sappar may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction.
Force majeure
Neither party will be responsible for a failure caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, except obligations that cannot legally be excused.
Relationship
These Terms do not create an employment, partnership, joint venture, franchise, or agency relationship between Sappar and users.
Independent creators offering products through Sappar Bazaar remain independent from Sappar except as expressly provided in a separate creator agreement.
